Area 32 - PSP
A downloadable game
About
Shoot your way through a near infinite number of randomly generated levels, find new weapons and try to survive. How far can you go?
There are 3 worlds and try to beat my best score of lv 9 if you want a challenge . If you get stuck use dynamite to destroy tiles or hit "Reset" in the pause menu.
Note
I got my PS Vita sent to me instead of my PSP by accident (I should have been clearer when asking). Therefore the game is only tested on Adrenaline (Vita), PPSSPP and Jpcsp.
The game may load for a while when starting, so be patient.
Please tell me if something does not work!
Technical
Some new features of the engine are:
- Custom draw routines with a palette.
- A particle system.
- A dynamic camera.
- Input mapping.
With the draw routines I was able to implement a palette fade effect like the ones used in some NES games and Commander Keen.
Some features were scrapped like music and a binary map format. Compiling the game logic as a separate binary was also removed from the PSP version.
The game is written in C (psp-gcc 9.3.0), gLib2D for graphics and SDL 2 for audio/inputs. The game should also work for the PSP 1000.

The colors are very vibrant but they’re not eye bleeding which is something some games can’t do. I love this game, 10/10
The game crashes my psp 3x :/
I shows loading, then my psp turns itself off

there are no gameplay videos on YouTube, so I decided to make one
The graphics and colors are very attractive
Thank you. Some of the colors are from Arne Jansson's Famicube palette.
